@misc{17853, author = {Shaukat Ali}, title = {Quantum Computing, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence}, abstract = {Quantum software will enable fascinating future applications. However, creating dependable quantum software that executes on quantum computers and delivers these applications requires new software engineering methods, tools, and best practices. To this end, a novel field of Quantum Software Engineering (QSE) is emerging. This keynote will focus on engineering dependable quantum and classical software using two groundbreaking technologies: quantum computing and AI. It will discuss the challenges that prevent harnessing the full potential of these technologies for engineering both quantum and classical software. Next, the keynote will provide an overview of the current state of QSE, followed by an introduction to some techniques developed in our group. These techniques include applying classical AI methods to solve QSE problems. Moreover, it will introduce our works on using quantum AI techniques (eg, quantum extreme learning machines and quantum annealing) to solve classical software engineering problems (eg, testing). Finally, the talk will conclude by examining open research questions at the intersection of quantum computing, AI, and software engineering and discussing the future outlook.}, year = {2024}, journal = {IPSJ/SIGSE Software Engineering Symposium (SES2024)}, }
